“I have done a couple of workshops at the ‘Little River Art Studios’ and thoroughly enjoyed them.”

The studio is in a picturesque setting in an historic property on the banks of the Grose River.

Good teachers in terrific company and great fun learning new painting skills.

Couldn’t have a better Art experience…Loved it!”

“I attended a 2 day Julie Simmons workshop at Little River Studios earlier this year with a friend of mine. The venue is cosy, rustic and very welcoming.

The hostess (Jeanette) kept us all well, extremely well fed with tasty sweet treats for morning and afternoon tea.

We also stayed for dinner on the Saturday night, which was a hoot. We ate way too much yummy BBQ and drank too much red wine and had lots and lots of laughs. We visited her cottages whilst there, and have promised ourselves that next time, we will stay on site and just enjoy the wonderful ambiance.”

The tutors were always talented artists and gifted teachers more than willing to pass on their vast knowledge with enthusiasm and patience. There are always plenty of laughs over the weekend within the casual atmosphere of the old farm shedding on the historic grounds of this amazing old property. Here we were surrounded by the beautiful landscape of the Hawkesbury region. Saturday evening over a BBQ dinner the laughs and fun continued with a glass or two of wine whilst we reviewed the days art experience. Jeanette Starr, our host, could not be more welcoming and makes everyone feel at home and comfortable. Apart from taking home new found artistic knowledge, Little River Studios is a wonderful opportunity to make new arty friends.”

“I have had the pleasure of attending three workshops at LRS.

It is a wonderful working environment in the rustic sheds of a historical dairy farm, surrounded by green pastures, and grazing horses.

Jeanette is warm, friendly and accommodating of her guests needs. Her easy going and welcoming personality makes it easy to feel comfortable.

The artists in residence are all high quality. They give excellent demonstrations, instructions & tuition.

They are able to cater to all levels of experience in a very relaxed atmosphere. The day was broken up with delicious cakes, tea & coffees provided.

On one occasion I participated in a weekend workshop and stayed in the cottage. The facilities were very comfortable. Jeanette included a tour of the property ….  a look at the historical dairy, and a hair raising paddock bashing experience on her quadbike around the grounds. This was followed by a tasty BBQ dinner.

I would recommend this wonderful artistic escape to anyone looking for a blend of creation, adventure & social activity.”

“I have always wanted to paint but felt very intimidated walking into a workshop or studio as I felt that I could not draw and would look like a real amateur, this held me back for years until one day walking into Little River Studios.

The atmosphere is very relaxed but professional, they eased my fear and guided me into the process of putting paint onto a board and showing me many techniques that I could use to make my own art work.

The teachers are all experienced artists and share their knowledge showing me step by step, explaining the many processes to reach a finished work.

I am always amazed that In each workshop I complete one or two masterpieces!!!

I am always eagerly awaiting the next class.”

“Dear Jeanette,

Thank you for a truly enjoyable weekend. I absolutely loved Melissa’s technique even though I had serious crop-failure with my own non-masterpieces.

It was great to have such an interesting and eclectic mix of women, even though there was a lack of appreciation for my singing/ whistling skills!

I guess when one is so seriously talented it is difficult for the Hoi-polo i to understand such a diversity of talent. Congrats on your superb cooking skills, both you and Judy are amazing!

Please keep me posted as to what is going on and I’d love to know when YOUR exhibition is happening.

Fond regards after a top weekend,

Lynne Pfister

“Hi Jeanette

Thanks for a wonderful weekend. It was such a friendly, relaxed atmosphere, we are looking forward to coming again.

Ros Psakis was a delight and what we learnt was incredible. I understand you may even have Charlie Tong coming sometime this year. Please let us know.

See you soon.
Paul and Glynis

Ps It was fantastic to be able to buy unframed demo works.

Dear Jeanette,

May I make a short testimonial to your Little River Studio.

It was so exciting for me, a beginner, to attend tutorials at the Little River Studio. A beautiful setting, very patient teachers, a very obliging host in Jeanette Starr and a fun weekend over all.

I am amazed how the right technique can transform a very amateurish effort into something recognisable. Am hoping to attend lots more workshops.

Lorraine Paynter.

The workshops at LRS are well organised with excellent tutors, interesting amenities with panoramic views of the Blue Mountains.

The infectious vibe created by the host, the wonderful tutors and the budding artists makes for a joyous weekend experience.

Everyone leaves with a piece of work that surpasses their norm always asking, when is the next one?
